Do your teeth hurt? Do you have pain or discomfort?

Pain or discomfort around your teeth can be an indication that something is not right, and it is best to have a dentist take a look.

Our mouths will often send us signals if we have a cavity, this could be in the form of sensitivity with hot and cold or when eating. If you attend to these problems early enough we can often prevent larger problems occurring.

Sensitivity is frequently caused by a cavity, but sometimes there may be nothing wrong with your teeth. Dietary and tooth brushing erosion is becoming more common and can cause sensitivity. Our dentists can advise on dietary changes and recommend desensitizing toothpastes to help relieve the discomfort caused.

If you are unfortunate enough to have other types of pain, this could be an indication of a large cavity or an infection. Sometimes root canal treatment is needed to help remove the infection and in the worst cases you may need an extraction. These treatments can be carried out at the Fenton Dental Studio and if you are very nervous we can use sedation to help you relax. We clean the infected nerve from the tooth and seal the tooth up to remove any bacteria. After this treatment we may need to make the tooth stronger, so we will place a crown or ‘cap’ to cover the remaining tooth. This will ensure the tooth remains problem free for a long period of time.

Our dentists will carry out an examination of your mouth on your first visit to try and get you out of pain as quickly as possible. After this we can look at the rest of the mouth and address any problems according to your needs.
